About Us

24-years of Syncrony and 24-years of experience in the art of building online shops and crafting custom software solutions.

Syncrony was established in 1999

Our mission back then, was to develop a web Content Management System that we could use to manage our customers web content. The system we developed ran off a Windows app that pushed content to the web via a complicated process. Making web stuff work in those days was hard and it was unimaginable to us that by 2017 the CMS would so easy to deploy and use that there would be fifty-thousand WordPress sites alone, launched every day.

By 2003, we had replaced our homegrown CMS with an open source Microsoft based system that grew to become DotNetNuke (DNN). Fortunately, we picked a winner and DNN became a worldwide standard for Microsoft CMS systems. However, by 2017 we realised that although DNN has served us well it was time to find a more modern platform. By then we had over the years developed beautiful websites for companies like Stefanutti Stocks, CCMA, AGSA, Bonitas and others. DNN had also served as the base platform for us to develop custom systems for the YUM Foods (KFC) and Famous Brands. Long-term customers who to this day, depend on the reliability of the DNN based extranet that we built for them in the years starting from 2009.

Seventeen Years of Online Commerce Experience

We started our e-commerce journey in 2005, with an in-house online shop system, written in Microsoft ASP .Net. Our first production online shop sold Bose electronic equipment and the system went on to be used for other customers, including a daily-deals website with a monthly turnover of over a million ZAR a month.

In 2013, we added the Magento eCommerce Platform to our skillset and began building online stores. Since then our Magento expertise has expanded to include Magento customization, extension development as well as specialized Magento hosting services.

BoardCloud

We first developed BoardCloud for Fidelity Services Group and it went into operation in 2016. BoardCloud is still in use by the group today.

BoardCloud is based on the latest Microsoft .Net Core Framework and is undoubtedly the most modern board portal software available today.

During the time of lockdown, we took the decision to market BoardCloud as a commercial package and since then we have poured over five million Rand into its development.  We believe that under the current grim economic conditions as locally developed board system is of great value to South African companies that struggle to pay the exorbitant Dollar-based license fees charged by the overseas incumbents.

We have grown our SA user base and also have customers in UK, USA, Canada and in parts of Africa.

Syncrony is dedicated to enhancing and improving BoardCloud and servicing its board meeting user based into the future.
