Setting RDP Session Timeout Policy in Windows Server 2003

Policies to limit remote desktop session (RDP) length can be applied per User or to the whole computer.     Here is how to do it on a machine wide policy. If your machine is part of a Domain Go to: Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Terminal Services  This will work on a Domain environment under Active Directory. For a stand alone computer: Go to Terminal Services Configuration. Click on the Connections Folder Then right click on the RDP-tcp connection in the righ pane Open Properties window Click on the Sessions tab Tick Overide User Settings checkbox Then set time periods for End, Active, Idle Check Overide User Settings and click End Session radio button As per pic below:     www.syncrony.com By Howard Rybko (june 2009) The best way to avoid the problem is to institute a Policy that closes open RDP sessions after a set period of inactivity. Flipper Promises Visual Google News

A soon to be released Google product called Flipper aims to display news graphically, effectively allowing browsers to select a news source in a way somewhat equivalent to browsing magazines at bookstore.

At this moment the link to the Google Flipper page is available only to staff but news circulating since Friday seems to indicate that a public beta release is not too far off.

It would make sense that the news displays would have to be prepared and formatted by the various news publishers, to make their news items visible in the new graphical display. This probably means that news producers have been involved and could well point to a new revenue source for Google as publishers could possibly bid for position.

Celeb's Twitter Account Hacked - Used to Distribute Malware

The Twitter account of marketing guru Guy Kawasaki was hacked by adding a link to a sex site for a video download. The Twitter system then kicked in to push the link to some 1000,000 plus Twitter users. Users who followed the link would eventually get a message offering to update their video codec. The download contains the malware. The important lesson is that Twitter's immense popularity was bound ot lead to attacks like this. Thus we need to be alert to: not fall for these kind of lures be aware of how important our own security is when we use a service like Twitter (using a good password is a good start) Imagine Can you imagine the damage a hacker could create by sending Tweets that supposedly come from some celeb. The hacker could for example make a shocking statement that would seemingly come from the mouth of the celeb. The fake Tweet would be immediately picked up by the celeb's followers. Imagine the PR effort it would require for the denials alone! Thus we need to find out how K ...
