When web designers and copywriters need to create blocks of dummy text for the projects they work on, they often make use of a common block of seemingly scrambled text that starts with the words: Lorem Ipsum Dolor.

Latin Original Discovered

This block of text is Latin based and probably originated from and original Latin text. The original source  text was identified by Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College who tracked the text down to a passage from Cicero. The book is called de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum or The Extremes of Good and Evil and was written in 45BC.

 "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipisicing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua. Ut enim ad minim veniam, quis nostrud exercitation ullamco laboris nisi ut aliquip ex ea commodo consequat. Duis aute irure dolor in reprehenderit in voluptate velit esse cillum dolore eu fugiat nulla pariatur. Excepteur sint occaecat cupidatat non proident, sunt in culpa qui officia deserunt mollit anim id est laborum."
